Acts of Keeping the Earth Intact
As a student-leader, we partake in all aspects of the 4 core values; Makadiyos, Makatao, Makakalikasan, Makabansa. But I would like to emphasize “Makakalikasan” in celebration of the Environment month.
Me, being a student that is in multiple organizations like the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG), and the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, we conduct and partake in activities that preserves the environment for a more sustainable future.
The most recent activity was the Campus Clean-Up Drive, where all clubs and affiliates of Ilocos Sur National High School gathered in front of the library, given three trash bags, for them to fill while cleaning around their designated areas. This activity was masterminded by the Supreme Secondary Learner Government’s executive board, in accordance with other officers, especially the Clean and Green Special Committee of SSLG.
Boy Scouts of the Philippines are also known in our school for the unending clean up drives and tree planting activities. These activities are open for all students around the school, but are limited to some whenever it would require parental consent and age-limits.
These activities show us how much we are capable of maintaining the green of our school, our community, our country, and our earth.
Participating in activities that help preserve the environment against global disasters and problems that are now considered mainstream can be reduced individual by individual. I think that we don’t realize how capable we are in actually helping the earth and environment.
I believe that each and every one of us, is capable— as long as we have the same goals, and is on the same page.
