Land of A New Morning

The sun sets every time in the Philippines whenever our country faces challenges such as crises in
weather or natural disasters. The Philippines, and its role as an archipelago, our country is naturally prone to typhoons, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions. Despite the strength and resilience of us Filipino people, each disaster leaves scars, disrupting lives and livelihoods. Given this present day, the Philippines is also facing multiple political crises, including the search for Quiboloy and the arrogance of our Vice President. These political challenges the struggles of us Filipino people.

The said crisis brought a lot of controversy about the past promises of our politicians during the campaign period as our Vice President Sara Duterte proudly proclaimed to stay silent about it. Is this what we want leading our country? The silence from our leaders during these critical times reflects a lack of accountability that we, as citizens, should not tolerate. Promises made during elections should translate into action, but instead, we see  denial. We deserve transparency and honesty, especially when the nation is facing such uncertainty. It is upsetting to witness how easily some leaders abandon their pledges, leaving us Filipinos in a state of disappointment.

When 6 years pass by, us, the youth who are in the present—still ineligible to vote yet, have been trying to amplify our voices for the adults to hear. It isn’t just them who’ll get affected by their decisions, but our future, that will end up forsaken. Our dreams, our ambitions, our passion, can be affected. We witness the world changing in every aspect every day, and the decisions made today will shape the world we live tomorrow. This is why it is important for the youth to be heard, for we are the ones who will live with the consequences. The adults in power must recognize that they hold the responsibility not just for their own lives, but for the generations that will follow.

The challenges our country, the Philippines, face today demand our attention and action. It is obvious that the future of the nation is being shaped by the decisions made by those in power, and the consequences of their actions will be felt by generations to come. We must raise our voices higher, advocate for accountability, and work towards a better future. Change is in our hands, but it requires determination and  hard work. The sun will rise again in the land of a new morning, but only if we are willing to fight for the future of our country that we deserve.
